In the latest accident, a man sustained serious injuries when his vehicle collided with a light truck on the corner of Moot and Welthagen streets, Daspoort, around 10:30.

“He was trapped inside the vehicle and the fire department had to use force to extricate the man,” said Loubser.

“Paramedics treated the man on the scene before he was taken to Bougainville hospital.”

Loubser said the two people in the truck suffered minor injuries.

In the second accident, three people sustained minor injuries after a bakkie hit the back of a BMW around 10:30.

This happened on the corner Vom Hagen and Rebecca Street in Pretoria West.

In another accident, two people were slightly injured after their vehicle swerved off the road and crashed into a ditch.

“The crash happened on Christina de Wit Avenue going into Pretoria CBD,” said Loubser.

“Both men were transported to hospital.”

No other vehicles were involved, he added.

“Two females and a male suffered severe injuries and were transported to various hospitals.”

Loubser said the other 12 passengers suffered moderate to minor injuries.

Loubser offered the following tips for motorists driving on wet roads:

– Always adjust your speed.

– Make sure you always leave a noticeable distance between you and the car in front of you.

– Always wear your safety belt.

– Ensure your wipers are in a good condition.

– Turn your headlights on if you can’t see properly.
