Woman shot, husband assaulted in Kameeldrift attack

A husband and wife were both injured during an attack on their smallholding in Kameeldrift West on Saturday.

Hercules police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango said police were investigating a case of business robbery and attempted murder.

“Around 22:30, a couple was attacked inside their Kameeldrift home by three unknown suspects,” said Msimango.

“The woman was shot in the lower body during the robbery.”

He said the trio then broke into the couple’s spaza shop, which is on the property, and stole groceries and cash.

“The suspects drove away in the couple’s silver Ford bakkie with registration number JDX 618GP.”

Msimango said the woman was still recovering in hospital.

He said no arrests had been made yet.

“We appeal to the community to assist the police with any information that may lead to the arrest and prosecution of the suspects.”
