NEWSFLASH: Three arrested in Silverton after high-speed chase

Three men were arrested after a high-speed chase in Silverton on Thursday.

Garsfontein police spokesperson Captain Ilze Jones said Garsfontein crime prevention members were patrolling in Die Wilgers when they spotted a man driving suspiciously.

She said when officers tried to pull the driver over, he sped off.

Jones said a chase ensue around around 14:00.

She said the chase continued on Simon Vermooten Road, where the culprits crashed into a motorist.

The perpetrators then took a left into Albertus Street were they crashed into a second motorist, culminating in their arrest, said Jones.

She said a firearm, two TVs, and a high-tech signal jammer were confiscated.

Police were also looking into the robbers’ vehicle, which had allegedly been hijacked in Sunnyside.

Jones said the three men were also linked to a robbery in the Brooklyn area.
