Pretoria West business robber gets 30 years

One of the four most wanted robbers in the west of Pretoria was handed a 30 year sentence on Thursday.

Police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said the notorious business robber Michael Yekwa received a heavy sentence at the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court.

“Constable Makwena Lamola ensured that a 30 years direct imprisonment for business robbery was imposed by the court,” she said.

“The crime was committed after the four suspects robbed Edgars Active Store in August 2015 at Atlyn Mall in Atteridgeville. “

Selepe said the robber was traced at the Johannesburg Correctional Service following an intense search by Pretoria SAPS.

“He was an awaiting trial prisoner for two other unrelated cases of conspiracy to commit business robbery.”

Police are still looking for the three other suspects.

“Tshwane West Cluster Commander Major General Daniel Mthombeni welcomed the sentence and commended the investigating team for the excellent work done,” Selepe said.
