NEWSFLASH: Laudium schools close amid protests

Violent protests in Laudium on Wednesday have forced schools in the area to close for the day.

Protesters burned tyres and placed rocks in the road as early at 05:00.

The protest by residents is reportedly over a lack of service delivery.

Social media posts claiming a man was killed after being beaten up have not been confirmed by the Tshwane metro police.

Community leader Yusuf Abramjee said a man had been injured, but he was still alive and had been taken to hospital.

The police are trying to control the situation after bins were emptied on the streets.
