‘Schumacher’ nabbed for numerous robberies in the West

A suspected robber commonly known as “Schumacher”, was finally arrested on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said the 26-year-old was involved in many business robberies together with his co-accused Kenny “Majozi” Papo.

Papo was arrested in April and would appear in court next week.

Selepe said intelligence gathering by the Tshwane west police task team had led to good information on Schumacher’s whereabouts.

“The suspect was tracked down and arrested while travelling in a taxi in Maunde Street, Atteridgeville. He was searched and a revolver was found in his possession,” she said.

“He was wanted for business robberies in Pretoria West and Pretoria Central and is expected in court soon.”

Selepe said there would be an additional charge for the possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Tshwane west cluster commander, Major-General DT Mthombeni thanked the task team for working its tireless work to ensure Schumacher was behind bars.

“The team will continue to work hard to ensure a lengthy jail term is secured,” he said.
