Paramedics respond to nine cases in Pretoria

Best Care ambulance services was called out nine times between the north of Pretoria and the Moot on Friday night.

One person was killed and injuries ranged from serious to moderate.

Spokesperson Xander Loubser said the first accident happened around 18:50 in the north.

He said a woman sustained serious face, neck and head injuries when she was thrown out of a moving vehicle.

“She was stabilised on the scene and transported to Akasia hospital for further treatment,” said Loubser.

“The driver of the vehicle was arrested on the scene upon our arrival.”

Loubser said two vehicles collided on the corner of Steve Biko Road and Flowers Street around 20:00.

“There were two people in each vehicle.”

“The two occupants in the one vehicle were treated for minor injuries and were taken to Eugene Marais hospital.”

Loubser said one of the occupants in the other vehicle was treated on the scene.

During a third case, a woman was attacked on the corner of Adcock Street and 10th Avenue around 20:15.

Loubser said the woman was treated on the scene for head injuries.

The person who attacked her was arrested.

Loubser said a motorbike accident was reported in Airport Road in Doornpoort.

“It is unclear what exactly caused the accident, but eyewitnesses said they saw the man drive off the road.”

Loubser said the man was declared dead on the scene.

Best Care also responded to five other cases, ranging from bar fights to assisting people not able to drive.

“Some of the cases did not necessarily require medical attention, but we helped where we could,” said Loubser.

He warned residents to be careful and responsible for the rest of the long weekend.

He said the cause of all the incidents would form part of police investigation.
