Two people died and another two were seriously injured when a vehicle and motorbike collided in Daspoort on Saturday.

“A motorbike and an Opel Kadett collided at approximately 01:00 this morning,” said Best Care ambulance services spokesperson Xander Loubser.

He said a man (24) and his supposed girlfriend (27), who were riding on the motorbike, passed away on the scene in Moot Street.

“The two occupants of the vehicle had to be removed from the car.”

“Both these patients were critically injured and received advanced life support care.”

Loubser said both victims were transported to Steve Biko academic hospital.

“Another person, supposedly the driver of the vehicle’s mother, collapsed after she arrived on scene and was also taken to hospital.”

Loubser thanked all emergency services and fire brigade members for assisting on scene.

“Our condolences to the friends and family of the deceased.”

The cause of the accident would form part of a police investigation.
