Couple mourned after fatal Daspoort accident

Family and friends are mourning the passing of Lezette de Beer and Zhaan Smit.

The two were riding on a motorbike when they collided with an Opel Kadett in Moot Street, Daspoort on Saturday.

Best Care ambulance services spokesperson Xander Loubser said the couple died on the scene.

The two people in the Opel were seriously injured.

Messages of condolences poured in on social media.

Antoinette Gibson wrote:

“I am shocked beyond believe! Just got really really bad news, Lezette Blondi De Beer has passed away today, taken way too young and so much more adventures to see, we are all truly heartsore and wish the family and friends our sincere condolences and to Zaan’s family’s and friends, may sun always rise in front of you, may the rain fall behind you, and wind follow you, may the angels guard your travels, may we meet again… safe travels you two beautiful souls…”

Zanelle Grandly, De Beer’s sister, wrote:

“We would like to inform our family and friends near and far that early this morning my sister Lezette Blondi De Beer passed away alongside Zhaan Smit!!! We will miss them greatly and no words can ever explain the big loss we feel!! I will always love you Babeta and keep your memory alive!!!”

The last message De Beer posted on Facebook before her death read:
