Most matriculants who wrote English paper 1 today were said to be pleased.
While most teachers said they weren’t allowed to see the paper beforehand, they reported that there were no delays or problems.

An English teacher at Hoërskool Centurion said that everything went smoothly.
“The department of education was here early and we experienced no problems,” he said.
Lorraine Mathibedi, the head of the grade at Clapham high school, said that everything went well.
“The matrics seemed calm. I hope it went well for them”.
Head of the English department at Glen high school Kanny Govender said the matrics she spoke to were quite pleased with the paper.
“Some even said that the paper was better than their preliminary exam,” she said.
Tomorrow, matrics will write the three-hour accounting exam from 09:00.
