INFOGRAPHIC: Protest action disrupts waste collection in Pretoria

A group of protesters have disrupted waste collection in several parts of Pretoria.

Region 3, which includes the CBD, East Lynne, Kilner Park and Gezina among others, has been hit by sporadic disruption of waste collection service, Tshwane metro said.

“The disruption comes as a result of a protest action by a group of people who call themselves Capacity employees, who demand to be employed by the metropolitan municipality.”

The metro said the group disrupted services by stopping waste removal trucks in parts of the region.

“The service providers were told to go and park their trucks and were threatened with violence if their trucks continued with the collection,” the metro said.
