The route of the Vat Alles workers march has changed, the Tshwane metro police have announced.
More than 10 000 protesters were expected to march from Burgers Park at 08:00 to Tshwane House, in Madiba Street.
Metro police spokesperson Nonhlanhla Mgiba said the route had been simplified.
“From Burgers Park, the marchers join Lilian Ngoyi Street then proceed straight past the following intersections:
- Visagie Street
- Nana Sita Street
- Francis Baard Street
- Pretorius Street
“They will then turn right onto Madiba Street and proceed to Tshwane House to handover their Memorandum,” said Mgiba adding the marchers were expected to disperse at 13:00.
“Motorists are urged to avoid the above-mentioned streets and use alternative routes.”
Mgiba said TMPD officers would be deployed to monitor the march.
“No unlawful activity will be tolerated.”
She said TMPD had heard the rumour that the ANC Youth League (ANCYL) planned a protest into the CBD for Friday as well.
“In respect of this march no application was received hence it will be illegal, in the event it takes place,” Mgiba said.
