Embury Institute for Higher Education opens two new Gauteng campuses

• Embury will be hosting an Open Day at its Montana Campus (1037 Besembiese Road, Montana Park) on Saturday

Embury Institute for Higher Education is sitting on some exciting news: next year will see the launch of its two new campuses in Gauteng. One campus will be Embury Montana, in Pretoria, and the other Embury Waterfall, in Midrand. These two campuses will offer our country’s current and aspiring teachers degrees, diplomas and higher certificates in a variety of education fields.

  • Embury will be hosting an Open Day at its Montana Campus (1037 Besembiese Road, Montana Park) on Saturday, 13 May from 10 am to 1pm.

What makes Embury different?

Embury is the private institute of choice for people wanting to enter the teaching profession. With an average pass rate of over 80%, and an employment success rate of 90%, Embury prides itself on offering excellent teacher education. It does this by using innovative teaching and learning strategies, embracing 21st-century, technology-infused teaching practices, and placing high emphasis on practical school experience. In fact, Embury’s students spend about half of their academic year in a school setting, observing, assisting and teaching.

The lecturer–student ratio at Embury is also generally much lower than at public universities, allowing for more individual attention and assistance. Embury has a cohort of highly skilled, experienced and full-time educators who are committed to helping students become classroom-ready, sought-after professionals.

The courses Embury offers

Embury currently offers the following education options:

  • Early Childhood Development Practitioner (a one-year higher certificate programme);
  • Grade R Teacher (a four-year Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching degree); and
  • Primary School Teacher (a four-year Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching or Bachelor of Education in Intermediate Phase Teaching degree).

Embury also assists current teachers to further develop their knowledge and skills by means of continuing professional teacher development (CPTD) in-service programmes and short courses.

Note that Embury, which is wholly owned by Curro Holdings, is registered with the Department for Higher Education and Training (DHET) and offers programmes that are accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE).
