UPDATE: Search still on for missing man in Eersterust

Family and friends were on Saturday still searching for a man that went missing in Eersterust over a week ago.

Dean Jafta (20) was last seen by his family around 17:00 in Eersterust.

His father Denzi said the family suspected he was abducted by a syndicate.

“There is a syndicate going around in Eersterust that befriends young men. After they have gained the trust of the men, they abduct them.”

Denzil said he knew the syndicate had made contact with his son.

“His best friend told me this happened on Friday. Apparently they told Dean to meet them somewhere alone. That was the last time we saw our son.”

Eersterust police spokesperson Sergeant Sam Shibambo said Dean was on his way to meet a friend when he disappeared.

“His friend was interviewed and he said Dean did not arrive as planned,” Shibambo said.

“Dean’s car, a grey Volkswagen Polo, was found abandoned in Clarina near Akasia on the Sunday after his disappearance.”

Dean has short dark hair and dark eyes.

Family and friends are using the hashtag, #HelpFindDeanJafta, in an attempt to find him.

The police urged anyone with information on the matter to contact the police station.
