Missing Eersterust man – dad worries over syndicate

Dean Jafta.

The search is still on for an Eersterust man who has been missing for two weeks, amid fears he has been abducted.

Dean Jafta (20) was last seen by his family in Eersterust on 19 May around 17:00.

His father, Denzil, said they suspected a syndicate abducted his son.

“There is a syndicate going around in Eersterust that befriends young men.”

“After they [the syndicate] have gained their [the victim’s] trust, they abduct them.”

Denzil said the syndicate had allegedly made contact with his son.

“His [Dean’s] best friend told me the syndicate made contact with Dean on Friday.”

“Apparently they told him he must meet them somewhere alone. That was the last time we saw our son.”

Denzil said any help to find Dean would be appreciated.

“I feel so hopeless. We just want to find our son and know he is safe.”

“We need this closure.”

The version of events given to the police however, tell a different story.

Eersterust police spokesperson, Sergeant Sam Shibambo said the same friend told police Dean was on his way to meet him when he went missing.

“His friend was interviewed and he alleged Dean did not arrive as planned,” said Shibambo.

“Dean’s vehicle, a grey Volkswagen Polo, was found abandoned at Clarina near Akasia on the Sunday after his disappearance.”

Shibambo said a missing persons case was opened at the station.

The Pink Ladies organisation also issued a missing persons poster for Dean.

“We do not know what he was wearing at the time of his disappearance,” said the Pink Ladies on their website.

Dean has a slender build, short dark hair with thick lips and dark eyes.
